1) RICHARD HENRY (1787-1879).-Novelist and critic, _b._ at Camb., Mass., was called to the Bar in 1817. Among his novels are _Tom Thornton_ and _Paul Felton_, both somewhat violent and improbable tales, and his poems, which are better, include _The Buccaneer_ (1827), and _The Dying Raven_. He is, however, stronger as a critic than as a writer.
