Thousands of people come here every morning to work in large offices. There are some famous buildings in the City, such as St Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London which was built nine centuries ago and used as a royal palace, a fortress, and a political prison. Now it is a museum. The West End is the centre of London. Here are the historical palaces as well as famous parks, such as Hyde park. In the West End there is the Queen's residence, Buckingham Palace and the Palace of Westminster. There are more than 40 theatres, concert halls, and many museums, such as the British museum and the best art galleries. Trafalgar Square with Admiral Nelson's column is the geographical centre of London. The East of the city is the port of London. This is London's poorest part, where people of all colours live. London is one of the three largest ports in the world.
