In my opinion literacy is one of the most serious problem nowadays. Today a lot of people spend a lot of time in front of stupid TV programmes. They don't want to study, they use the Internet  instead of their mind. Children don't want to read, usually teacher or their parents make them to do it. All in all if i can't to change this problem in a global level i'll start with myself :)
