                                                           Ukraine Ukraine is a country in Eastern Europe. Ukraine is the second largest country in Europe after Russia. Kiev is the capital of Ukraine. The official language of the country is Ukrainian, however a lot of citizens can speak Russian as well. Ukraine is an industrial and agricultural country. However, nowadays more and more employees work in customer service sector. Ukraine plays a great role in the world economy as an exporter of electrical equipment, textiles and wood. Ukraine is well-known for its landmarks, some of which are inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Kiev Pechersk Lavra is one of those sites. It is one of the first monasteries in Kievan Rus’ which was built in the XI century. The Potocki Palace in Lviv will amaze you with its décor. It is another famous landmark which was built at the end of the XIX century. For those visiting Kiev it will be hard to refuse a leisurely stroll along renowned Khreshchatyk, the main street of the city. Also in Kiev there is the famous Motherland Monument which, because of its size, can be seen even from the farthest spot of the city.  

Ukraine is one of the largest countries of Eastern Europe. Kiev is the capital of Ukraine. It has state borders with Russia, Belarus and Moldova. It also borders on Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. In the south it is washed by the Black and the Azov Seas. The major rivers are the Dnieper, the Dniester, the Donets and others.  The two mountainous areas in Ukraine are the Carpathians and the Crimean Mountains. The biggest cities are Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Lviv, Mykolaiv and others.
