Mrs Carter said to Kelly Smith that she was late for her class again and she asked her what was happened that time. Kelly answered she was sorry that she had just overslept and she had missed the school bus. Mrs Carter told Kelly that she honestly admited it was her fault and she hadn’t invented any silly excuses, and she told her to come in and join the class. Kelly thanked Mrs Carter.   Mrs Carter said she was considering calling Kelly's parents, and to tell them about her coming late and she added she hadn’t done that yet since she diidn’t want to disappoint them. She also said that she thought she would have to since she was not happy with her (Kelly's) progress in French. Kelly told Mrs Carter she would do her best to catch up with the class she promised. Mrs Carter said to Kelly she felt that she hadn’t been working hard lately and something was distracting her from studying and she asked Kelly what it was if she might ask. Kelly answered that she (Mrs Carter) was right, and she added that they had formed a band three months before and they had been rehearsing like mad since then because they played pop and rock music and they were going to take part in the town contest the following month. Kelly promised that when they won, she would get back to the lessons.
