People in the United States celebrate the Thanksgiving Day on the fourth Thursday in November.  The fourth of July is also a national holiday.  This is the day when Americans celebrate their independence from Britain. In Britain people don't really celebrate historical events in this way.  Here, the main holidays are religious holidays, Christmas and Easter.  There are several one-day holidays during the year.  These are official public holidays when people don't go to work. There are days when people remember the dead or their parents.  On many holidays there is usually a lot of dancing and food and drink often until the early hours in the morning
