Сочинение на английском языке с переводом. Номинация Прочее.Stereotypes about Russia and RussianSince that time then I had just been a child I was always interested in ethnography and relationship between different cultures. You know, it is really fascinating to look at the world from the other side. So, I wasn’t very adult (maybe just 6-7 years old) when I saw, that some nations had very strange view on other nationality. These views have become stereotypes.Stereotypes can be really funny, but more often they are foolish and untolerant, because they are frequently formed without understanding of problems. The biggest part of stereotypes is due to mentality. They appear not just because of misunderstanding, but also because of relationship between different countries, nations during a huge period of time. Illustrating it we can see the attitude of Germen to Russian. Our nations communicate with each other hundreds of years. A lot of Germen work in our country, moreover, some of them run our country. So, as a result, Russian imagine German as people who are strict, punctual and careful. But German, who usually sees the Russian just as a representer of middle class on holiday in Egypt, make a decision that all Russian are people without any breeding, who always drink alcohol and waste money. But today I wouldn’t like to talk about stereotypes of concrete nation about Russian. I prefer to speak about all-European’s attitude to Russian mentality.Huge number of European find Russian as a group of uncivilized, brutal barbarian, who live somewhere in Siberia, drink vodka, ride on the bears, play the balalaikas with their “babushkas” and think up a plan how to capture all the world. We all understand that It is absurd that is worthy of Monty Python’s flying Circus. These stereotypes were formed with the help of the mass media. And Europeans have strongly believe that It is the truth. Of course they have a right to think everything what they want.Russian are really rude on Europeans’ view by the reason of nonsense word combinations like ”excuse me” and regularly invade into personal space of interlocutor. Russian view of all these things doesn’t mean rudeness and we wouldn’t like to offend somebody. We haven’t got a tradition of “excuse me”, we prefer to say “thank you” from the bottom of our heart.Modern Russian are more careful, then their ancestors because of terrible historical events to have happened for the last hundred years and try to be coldbloody. However It doesn’t make us brutal. We don’t enjoy to torment somebody.Other stereotypes are about vodka and balalaika (that we drink and play the music). You know, It is a fact that a huge number of Russian are alcohol-addicted, but it doesn’t mean that we haven’t got people who don’t like drinking. Also It is the truth that our traditional musical instrument is balalaika. But we lose a culture of flying and just a few people can play the music on it. And it is sad.Bears is supposed to like walking along high streets of Russian cities is a myth, too. I had never seen them. Now, you can see, that some stereotypes about Russia are myths and you couldn’t think about them seriously. At the end, I want to say that stereotype is a terrible thing, which makes understanding and communication between people of different cultures difficult.
