the number of boys - x, the numder of girls. - y ⇒ x-y=6      x-y=6         (5/3)*y-y=6    (2/3)*y=6    y=9 x/y=5/3   x=(5/3)*y    x=(5/3)*y       x=(5/3)*y    x=15   x+y=15+9=24. There are 24 students in the class.
