A Lion,a Fox,and an Ass went out hunting together.Having killed a large number of animals,they decided to have a meal. The Lion turned to the Ass,saying:" Divide the animals between us". The Ass divided the plentiful kill into three parts and modestly begged the Lion and the Fox to choose the share that pleased them best. That made the Lion very angry and the Ass was torn into pieces. The Lion asked the Fox to make the division. The Fox made a great division for the Lion,leaving only a tiny share for himself."My best friend among the beasts,who taught you to divide so cleverly?",said the Lion,pleased with the share. The Fox, pointing to his tiny share, replied : " I took a lesson from our dear friend Ass. Never take between for among and fiends for friends".
